Rotary Report

Garrettsville - Garrettsville-Hiram Rotarians, meeting in their new digs at the Main Street Grille and Brewing Company, entertained Doug Lyons of Boy Scout Troop # 62 as their program on February 24.  Mr. Lyons came seeking support for an upcoming expedition  to take place in the summer of 2010 : a High Adventure Camp trek to the Northern Tier, specifically, Ely, MN, to hike and canoe the Boundary  Waters.  This is consistent with the aim of the Boy Scouts of America to use the outdoors as a tool to develop leadership skills and is a chance of a lifetime for boys to mature as young men while discovering themselves and meeting challenges.  Twelve boys are hoping to participate, to carry 85# packs through the woods, to paddle and camp in all kinds of weather and conditions, to grow into their potential.

So far, the entire troop has participated in the fund-raising (All those doughnut holes!  All that popcorn!).  Euro-style stickers are now available to express support--see any Troop #62 Scout.  July 8-18 is lift-off, any community help is welcome.

Rotarians also were on notice   that the International meeting will be held this year in Montreal, Canada, and special packages are available.  One local special package will be the combined meeting with the Mantua and Aurora Rotary groups on March 9.

Come join the locals at 6:00 on Wednesday evenings at the Main Street Grille and Brewing Company.  Always a welcome mat out.
