Trustees Hire Clear Choice Creative to Build New Interactive Web Site

E-mail

Newton Township-Trustees voted to move forward into the 21st century at their February meeting. Trustees gave the go ahead to Clear Choice Creative to build their new website. Users will be able to download zoning forms, view Township updates, email township officials, view videos and much more.

Tom Ross of Clear Choice Creative said his team could have the website up and running two weeks after he receives the content from Trustees. Ross said he and his partner have over 11 years experience in the industry and opened their business in Warren two years ago to be close to family. Time Warner Cable-NEON, Howland Twp. and Come to Warren are just a few of their customers.

Trustee Pete Augusta read an email from Attorney Finnamore regarding a public records request from Michael Maurer of the Ohio Citizens Accounting Standards Board (Ohio CASB). Finnamore advised municipalities in Trumbull and Mahoning County to respond immediately to the request by acknowledging the request saying that he would look into what documents were required to be released as public record. The request comes as a part of “Transparency by April 15th Project” by openohio.org sponsored by friends of Ohio CASB. Open Ohio will publish the data on April 15th from all 3,000 primary local governments in Ohio.

Trustees voted to go ahead with the demolition of three  properties: 4393 Rambler, 4354 Richmond and 4601 Maple Dr. The properties were inspected by the County Health Dept. and the fire department and deemed unfit for human habitation.

While praising Butch Quinn, former Newton Twp. Police Captain, trustees denied his request for a retirement badge/ID citing a 2008 letter from Township Attorney Mark Finnamore that indicated a retirement badge is normally given for 15 years or more service. Quinn’s tenure with the city lasted less than the required 15 years.

Trustees approved the donation of $100.00 each to Am Vets, VFW and the American Legion in support of the annual Memorial Day Parade and Services.

Trustees passed a resolution in support of the Trumbull County Metro Parks trail project. The project is to create a bike/hike trail along the river and old rail lines that will eventually connect to the Great Ohio Lake-to-River Greenway.
