Another Eagle Flies!

E-mail

Sam Russell of Garrettsville Troop # 62, BSA, has completed his big project to qualify for the rank of Eagle Scout and is ready to soar to new challenges.

Having taken part in music and drama productions at Garfield practically from the cradle, Sam knew that a little--O.K., a lot--of organization and storage was needed backstage and in the lighting facilities, so that is what he set out to create.  Planning and imagination are a big part of any show, so Sam consulted with the Big Kahuna, his dad, Scott Russell--who’s done a show or two himself-- and the rest of the Scotchman Electric crew (That would include Grandpa Bob who’s had a wire in a couple of productions ‘way back...And Mom) .  He obtained donations from family and friends and commercial operations such as Lowe’s (Streetsboro), Troy Construction, Ellerhorst Insurance, Charles Auto Family, Cleveland Punch and Die.  He enlisted and organized crews of helpers and construction dudes (The list is long--some 34 names)...lots of Scouts, lots of dads, some moms...a bunch of Russells, , Angermeiers, Liningers,  Pawluses, Savicks, Lyonses, Gilmers,  some free-range types--Straubhaar, Vanoss, Frampton, Ensinger, Szaz, Phillips, King, Johnson, Gaither, Barbe, Klamer, a Post, and, hey,  somebody got a Splinter!

All of this effort and imagination and organization still must be reviewed to make the results official but the project will get its real test when the lights go up and the show goes on (as it must).  Good job Sam!
