Middlefield Community Days Starts Friday July 30

Middlefield -  Middlefield-The 2010 Middlefield Community Days promises to be a great way to have some fun, visit with friends and neighbors and spend quality time with the family. Community Days starts on Friday July 30 with a fish fry sponsored by the MVFD Ladies Auxiliary at the Middlefield Fire Hall from 4:30 pm until 6:30 pm.  From 6:30 pm until 9:30 pm enjoy the Fort Huntsburg Band at the Fire Station.  The night will close with fireworks at Cardinal High School at 10 pm.  The rain date for the fireworks will be Saturday, July 31.

Check out the “Amish Buggy Classic” 5k Race at 8 am or the one-mile Fun Run/Walk starting at 9 am.  The rest of the festivities start at noon at Mineral Lake Park on Sperry Lane.  All-day fun includes Horizon’s Christian Assembly with Discovery Town & Royal Ranger Campsite demonstrations, Tall Pines Dog Training sessions and performances, JMD Entertainment’s Laser Tag, bunches of carnival games, water tag, free pony rides and cornhole tournaments ($20 per team).

Under the BIG TOP TENT you can enjoy free kids crafts from noon until 3 pm.  The crafts are sponsored by Great Day Learning.  Starting at 3:30 pm watch an Outback Ray Live Animal Show.

The PAVILION PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE starts at Noon with Mark the Magician.  At 12:30 pm enjoy Clogging, Ballet, Irish, Tap and Jazz dance numbers preformed by members of the Crossroads Dance Studio.  Ronald McDonald’s Magic Show starts at 1:15 pm.  Spitunia performs starting at 2:15 pm.  Enjoy the Rock & Roll and Country sounds of the Abbey Rodeo Band from 5 pm until 7:30 pm.

Never heard of Abbey Rodeo?  It is almost certain that no matter what your musical preferences are, Abbey Rodeo will touch on them.  They play everything from Hank Williams, the Bee Gees, The Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Counting Crows, James Taylor and everything in between as well as original songs.  If you enjoy Rock & Roll, Country, Rockabilly, Pop, Surf, Folk, Bluegrass and Blues, you will be thoroughly entertained.  You can check out their website at http://www.abbeyrodeo.com/index.htm to learn more.

Other local businesses will have booths set up, such as Geauga Connections, Airtime Cellular, Mary Yoder’s Amish Kitchen, Western Reserve Lumber and Supply, Living Well Massotherapy, Pampered Chef just to name a few.

If all that activity starts to make you hungry, you can grab a bite to eat at the Cardinal Athletic Booster’s Swiss Cheese on-a-stick or stop by Cleats Club Seat Grille booth for ribs and cole slaw.  The Cardinal Athletic Boosters will also be serving a summer picnic for $2.50 and includes a hot dog, potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, chips and a soft drink.  You can purchase an additional hot dog for .50 cents.

The Boy Scout Troop 76 will be holding a food drive to benefit the Middlefield Food Bank.  Please consider helping local families in need by donating non-perishable items.  Paper products are also needed.

The idea behind this event is to provide a low-cost, fun-filled way to spend time with family and friends and to solidify the feeling of community that is so important in today’s world.  The Village of Middlefield and the Recreation Department have worked diligently to provide a variety of activities, good food and fun for the whole family.  So come on out and celebrate Summer the old-fashioned way.
