The Hand Portrait Projects are on display in the lobby exhibit case at the Newton Falls Public Library. They were created by students of the Newton Falls High School visual and language arts classes as a collaborative project with volunteers from Laurie Ann Nursing Home. These beautiful works of art may be viewed through September, before being moved to their permanent home at Laurie Ann.
Knitters and those wanting to learn, join Knit ‘n’ Stitch. The group meets every other Thursday in the library’s 2nd floor meeting room on September 2 and 16 at 4 p.m. Knitters of any skill level are welcome to work with us on our charity projects, or work on their own. The club is sponsoring a year-long Block-a-Month Knit-a-Long. Knitters of all ages and skill levels can join us and knit a series of blocks. Each block teaches a new technique and a Knit-a-Long means there will always be other knitters to support you while you work on a project. Simple knitting will be taught as needed. A finished afghan will be on display at the library. Anyone age 10 and up is welcome to participate. Register by contacting the Newton Falls Public Library.
The library’s Book Discussion Group will meet on Wednesday, September 29 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss ONE THOUSAND WHITE WOMEN: THE JOURNEY OF MARY DODD. Join us in sharing insights, conversation and refreshments. Copies of the book are available for borrowing at the library’s circulation desk.
Anime and manga lovers, attend the Anime/Manga Club on Saturday, September 25 at 1:30 p.m. Anyone is welcome. Students under 16 years of age should bring a signed permission slip. Enjoy several episodes of an anime, and discuss new and interesting manga. No registration is required. Anime and manga lovers, be sure to check out the library’s extensive anime and manga collections.
